About us
Early years
STEVEN - as a child my parents owned a German Shepherd which I still remember fondly but I had to wait until 1987 before I was to own my first German Shepherd together with my first wife. He was a male sable, with paternal bloodlines back to Druidswood Consort and his mother a Cito v Konigsbruch daughter. With what i was told was a good pedigree my interest in bloodlines was born.
My first Championship show was in 1988, judged by the late Percy Elliot. I continued to attend breed Championship shows on a regular basis and it was a fascination with International Champion Rosehurst Chris that led me to buy a daughter of his Janshar Yankee Stunner from the late Janet Thompson. She was the foundation of my Dinura Kennels

KATHLEEN - growing up it feels like I was always surrounded by dogs but it was to be the purchase of a German Shepherd rescue dog and its ability and above all else its loyalty that I can probably say my obsession began. In the following years I rescued a further two dogs then purchased a female Ronan from a local breeder. It was my interest in obedience where my path crossed with Steven and began to attend breed shows, I soon saw the qualities of Ch Kassieger Tamil at Alatrak and ordered a female out of her first litter. Alatrak Banma, the rest as they say is history going on to gain her Champion title in 1995.

More recently
STEVEN - I have always believed that a showline German Shepherd should be capable of working also. For many years I was fascinated with the qualifications all the German dogs had in their pedigree and had more than a passing interest in Schutzhund. In approximately 2007 Together we joined Bolton Schutzhund but remained on the periphery of IPO/Schutzhund sport, initially trying to train most if not all our dogs to some degree with an ambition to get a minimum of BH on each and every one of them.
In 2013 we formed a new German Shepherd breed club North West GSD Group, to run alongside this we also formed Kenyon IPO both organisations run and served by the same committee thus realising our ambition of being able to train for the breed shows and working qualifications simultaneously. NWGSDG is a GSDL member club, a WUSV BRG member club and Kenyon IPO is a GSDL Working Dog Group member.

The future
We have been active in our support of the GGSDL/BRG regional events since their inception, we firmly believe that with health tests, identification and surveys the Regionals are essential to the promotion of a healthy German Shepherd in the future.
The WUSV have recently announced the harmonisation programme developed to try and help produce German Shepherds that conform to the SV/WUSV breed standard on a worldwide scale. This system is still in its infancy, and i am sure it will continue to expand and improve in the coming years. One of the new introductions is the ZAP character test taken between 9-13 months old. It is our intention through our GSDL/BRG affiliated NWGSDG to promote the ZAP for all our dogs and all members dogs who train with us, alongside show training and the continued pursuit of IPO qualifications
Together we have been involved in dogs most of our lives. We had both previously owned German Shepherds but it was the purchase of Alatrak Banma in 1991 for Kathleen and purchase of Janshar Yankee Stunner for myself in 1989 that was to act as a catalyst for our then two seperate kennels with these two excellent foundation females.
